Mold Building, Tooling & EDM
Garner Industries offers domestic plastic injection mold building as well as off-shore mold sourcing for those customers who desire the economies of working with China and Asia, while still having a U.S.-based supplier with mold building expertise to coordinate the job. Supporting a variety of industries including the electronics, telecommunications, medical and automotive industries, Garner specializes in small and medium-sized complex part molds. Garner easily accommodates most any customer’s diverse needs with expertise in hot runner molds, insert mold and overmold tooling, and other complex molds … such as molds requiring side action, complex parting lines, or unscrewing molds.
For customers preferring domestic tooling, Garner’s Lincoln, Nebraska-based operation offers short lead times, economical shipping costs and the capacity to supply multiple mold packages. The tool room is equipped with the current technology needed to compete in today’s global marketplace. Garner has formed strategic alliances with several domestic mold builders to increase overall capacity and compliment Garner’s in-house mold building capabilities.
Garner offers 5-axis wire EDM and 4-axis conventional EDM, also known as ram or sinker EDM. Wire and sinker EDM have traditionally been used for producing hardened tool steel mold and die components. However, wire EDM is a good alternative to conventional production machining methods - as well as metal stamping - which require a significant investment in tooling. Flat or thin parts can be stacked so that multiple parts can be produced in one pass. Garner currently supplies several parts that exceed 1,000 pieces per year.
