The leading manufacturer of custom motorcycles relies on Garner Industries to supply some of the coolest hand grips and foot pegs you will ever see. But coolness aside, engineering and purchasing turned to Garner Industries because of our ability to single source five manufacturing processes. One purchase order and we provided mold building, CNC machining, plastic injection molding, polishing/plating and final assembly. Eight vendors supplying 16 parts for a valve assembly added up to quality and delivery problems for a suspension system manufacturer. Dimensional issues and overlapping tolerances between metal and plastic components were creating a high scrap rate and disrupting scheduling. The manufacturer asked Garner Industries to eliminate the quality problems and to supply the valve dock to stock. By single sourcing the valve we reduced eight vendors to one; reduced 16 part numbers to one finished assembly; eliminated the quality problems; and, cut the cost by 57%.
